Liu is an associate professor with a Ph.D. He is engaged in Chinese philology and international Chinese language education, and offers courses including Linguistic Research, Language Category Studies, and Contemporary Chinese Language. He hosts the Research on the Quantity Scope of Contemporary Chinese Language, a youth project of National Social Science, 2012.

Publications: He published a monograph entitled A Preliminary Study on the Scope of Linguistic Numbers in Contemporary Chinese Language. Shanghai: Xuelin Verlag, 2010, 1st edition. He has delivered more than 20 papers in journals including Studies of the Chinese Language, Linguistic Sciences, Chinese Teaching In The World, Applied Linguistics, Rhetoric Learning, and Chinese Language Learning, and has been involved in multiple projects.

Awards: First Prize of ECNU Teaching Achievement Award, 2018; Second Prize of Shanghai Municipal Teaching Achievement Award, 2017; First Prize of the 3rd Shanghai Outstanding Paper Award for Young Language Scholars, 2016.
